Criminal section files all felony indictments, issues subpoenas and processes all criminal appeals and post conviction writs.

Also conducts felony background checks for Val Verde County. The cost for this service is $5.00. A request for a background check can be made in person or by mail only if payment is sent with the mailed request.

Copies requested for all felony matters should be requested in the Criminal Department. The cost for plain copies is $.50 per page and certified copies are $1.00 per page. Copies can be requested in person, by fax, or by mail. Copies will only be made after payment has been received.
